𧱠Dome Construction & Materials
What are your domes made of?
All domes are built with precision-engineered aluminum framing, tempered glass, and optional insulated aluminum composite panels. No PVC. No tarps. These are real buildingsâbuilt to last.
Are the domes insulated?
We offer rigid insulation panel upgrades that fit into the frame between glass and interior walls. Most customers choose this over spray foam for a cleaner install and better access later.
What is the maximum size dome you offer?
Our largest dome is 40 feet in diameter. That gives you roughly 1,250 square feet of interior spaceâperfect for full-time homes or multi-room rentals.
Do I need a foundation?
Yes. Most customers build on a pier foundation with a raised wood deck, which looks great and allows for airflow and easy utility access. Concrete slabs are also an option if required by your local codes.
Can I add electricity, plumbing, and HVAC?
Definitely. Many customers build domes as tiny homes, guest houses, or rentals and finish the interiors just like a regular house. Plumbing and wiring run through the deck or internal framing.
Are the domes weatherproof?
Yes. Our domes are engineered to withstand rain, snow, wind, and sun. The materials are sealed, gasketed, and bolted down for a tight fit and long lifespanâeven in extreme climates.
đ Installation & Setup
How hard is it to assemble a dome?
With a small crew or contractor, most dome shells go up in 3â5 days. Everything is pre-cut, numbered, and includes instructions. Youâll want at least one person comfortable with tools and structure assembly.
Do you offer installation?
We donât offer in-house installation, but we provide clear instructions for local contractors or handy crews. Some customers DIY with friends, while others hire a pro to handle it from foundation to finish. We can also supply some recommended builders in your area.
Do you include engineering documents?
Yes. We offer stamped engineering documents for wind, snow, and structural loads. This helps with permitting and inspections in most U.S. states and counties.
Can your domes pass inspection?
Yesâwith the proper foundation and engineering documents, our domes meet structural requirements for permanent dwellings or rentals. Always check your local building departmentâs requirements in advance.
đ§ Dome Use Cases & Flexibility
Can I live full-time in a dome?
Yesâand many do. With proper insulation, plumbing, and interior finishing, our domes make excellent tiny homes, cabins, or primary residences. Theyâre comfortable, functional, and beautiful.
Are your domes good for short-term rentals or Airbnbs?
Absolutely. We work with many eco-resort owners, Airbnb hosts, and glamping destinations. Domes stand out, photograph well, and command higher nightly rates than standard stays.
Can I build off-grid?
Yes. Many clients build domes in remote areas using solar panels, rainwater catchment, composting toilets, and wood stoves. We support that with passive ventilation and flexible site options.
What climates can your domes handle?
Our domes perform well in hot, cold, humid, and dry climates. From desert heat to snowy mountains, the combination of glass and insulated panels can be adapted to your region.
Are your domes suitable for eco-resorts?
Yes. We offer multiple dome types and sizes that are ideal for building out eco-friendly stays. You can create a high-end guest experience without high-impact building.
đ Customization & Options
Can I choose where the glass or solid panels go?
Yes. You get to pick which panels are glass and which are insulated aluminum composite. You can design your own layout for views, privacy, and energy performance.
What finishes do the aluminum panels come in?
We offer a range of wood-grade finishes, solid colors, and matte tones to suit your environment or brand. Want it to blend into the forest or stand out on the coast? We can help.
Do you offer tinted or mirrored glass?
Yes. We have clear, tinted, and mirrored glass options available. These help with privacy, glare reduction, and solar heat control.
Is there a way to add privacy inside the dome?
Yes. We offer curtain kits that wrap the interior of the dome. You can block the light when neededâwithout losing the panoramic potential.
đ§ Maintenance & Durability
How long do the domes last?
With basic maintenance, our domes last 30+ years. The aluminum wonât rust, the glass is built to commercial standards, and the overall structure is rated for long-term use.
What kind of maintenance is required?
Minimal. Clean the glass a few times a year, check fasteners annually, and inspect seals every few seasons. Compared to traditional roofing or tent fabric, itâs low effort.
Do I need to reseal the dome over time?
Not often. The gaskets and compression seals are designed for long-term performance. If you live in extreme climates, a periodic check-up is a smart idea.
Can the glass crack or break?
Tempered glass is much stronger than regular glass and is rated to handle impact and snow load. That said, a falling tree limb can still do damage, so consider your site carefully.
đ Dome Buying Process
How do I get started?
Just reach out. Weâll help you choose a dome size, discuss panel layout, and finalize any upgrades. Once you approve the plans and send a deposit, we begin production.
Do you offer payment plans?
We donât offer financing in-house, but many customers use home improvement loans, construction loans, or personal financing through third-party lenders.
Can I order multiple domes?
Yes. We work with eco resorts, camps, and rental businesses to supply multiple domes for phased rollouts. Let us know your project scope and weâll help with logistics and scaling.
Can I see a dome in person before buying?
We’re working on a model dome and potential demo locations. In the meantime, weâre happy to share photos and connect you with previous buyers whoâve documented their projects.
đĄ Use-Case Questions
Are domes good for yoga studios or creative spaces?
Yes. The natural light and open layout are perfect for movement studios, art rooms, or workshops. Many customers use our smaller domes for this purposeâ16â and 20â are great starter sizes.
Can I use a dome for a greenhouse?
We don’t sell greenhouse-specific kits, but many people use our all-glass domes for passive solar greenhouses or sunrooms. Just note that the full insulation and sealed frame may differ from typical greenhouse builds.
Can I expand or connect domes?
We donât currently offer modular connectors, but many clients build walkways or decks between multiple domes to create a resort-style layout or multi-room experience.
What sizes work best for different uses?
- 16â20′: Studios, saunas, small glamping units
- 24â30′: Airbnb units, tiny homes, guest houses
- 34â40′: Full-time residences, luxury rentals, yoga spaces
đ§ Common Pre-Purchase Questions
Are domes noisy in wind or rain?
Not really. Rain on glass is calming, not overwhelming. The structure is solid and doesnât flap or creak like tents or yurts.
Do domes feel hot in summer?
They can, but with the right layout (shaded areas, tinted glass, or ventilation), most clients report comfortable interior temps. In hotter areas, we recommend HVAC or mini-split systems.
Do I need to be an architect or builder to pull this off?
Nope. Many of our customers are first-time builders. As long as you have a solid crew or contractorâand follow our instructionsâyouâll be fine. And we’re just an email away if you need help.
Are there fire risks?
Our domes are made from non-combustible materialsâaluminum and tempered glass. If you’re building in wildfire-prone areas, the dome is one of the safest shapes and materials you can choose.
