Why a Hybrid Frame?
The glass viewing area sits on pre-welded 6061 aluminum struts that bolt together on site, a rigid frame made for holding glass. Everywhere the dome is covered instead of glazed, heavy-duty galvanized steel does the work. Each metal goes where it makes the most sense.

What makes the Tetra Hybrid a hybrid?
The Tetra Hybrid mixes materials, using each one where it does the best job. The glass viewing area is 3/4" double-pane tempered glass on pre-welded 6061 aluminum struts. The rest of the frame is heavy-duty galvanized steel, with an extra-thick, UV-treated PVC cover outside and a 6 mm foil insulation layer inside.
How is the Tetra Hybrid different from the Tetra Glass?
The Tetra Hybrid puts real double-pane glass in a viewing area and covers the rest of the dome with an insulated cover. The Tetra Glass is all glass, or glass with insulated panels, on an all-aluminum frame. Your quote shows the price difference at your size.
Is the viewing area real glass?
Yes. It’s 3/4" double-pane tempered glass set in a pre-welded 6061 aluminum frame, so the view is as clear as you’d expect from glass. Clear, tinted or mirrored glass is included at no extra charge, the same as on the Tetra Glass.
What covers the rest of the dome?
A 28-mil heavy-duty, UV-treated PVC cover (0.7 mm) covers every section outside the glass viewing area. A black middle layer blocks all light, and a 6 mm foil insulation layer lines the inside. The cover replaces the rigid insulated panels on our earlier Hybrid.
What colors does the cover come in?
The cover comes in gray, white, tan or green. Other and custom colors are available on request, and the inside matches the outside.
Is the Tetra Hybrid four-season ready?
Yes. The Tetra Hybrid is four-season ready, a fully insulated structure and a fully sealed, weatherproof environment.
Is insulation included?
Yes. 6 mm foil insulation with an Oxford cloth interior is included in every Tetra Hybrid, not sold as an upgrade. It lines the covered sections and gives the inside a soft, cozy look.
Are the solar fan, windows and curtains included?
Yes. Every Tetra Hybrid comes with a solar exhaust fan, two manual windows with mosquito screens, and a curtain system. If you also want heating or cooling, like a mini split, we can go over options with your quote.
What upgrades are available?
You can add a manual or electric center skylight, electric windows in place of the two manual ones, a 35-mil PVDF cover (0.9 mm), or extra glass for a larger viewing area. Each upgrade is chosen on its own, with no packages, and your quote shows what each one adds.
Can I add a skylight?
Yes. A manual or electric center skylight is an optional upgrade, and your quote will show the one you pick.
Can I make the glass area bigger?
Yes. Extra glass for a larger viewing area is available as an upgrade. We’ll help you pick a layout and show you how it changes your quote.
Can I use a wood stove in the Tetra Hybrid?

Yes. Stamped engineering documents are available as an option for the Tetra Hybrid in all 50 states, the same as for the Tetra Glass. They are not included in the kit.
What sizes does the Tetra Hybrid come in?
The Tetra Hybrid comes in five sizes: 16, 20, 23, 26, and 30 ft. You’ll find every dimension and floor area on our Dome Kit Sizes page, and larger sizes are available on request.
Can I use it for glamping, a guest retreat, or a home?
Yes. Glamping units, guest retreats, backyard studios, and dome homes are all good fits. The right setup depends on how you’ll use it, your climate, foundation, utilities, and local rules, and we’ll work through those with you while we put your quote together.
What kind of foundation does it need?
Most customers choose a pier foundation with a raised wood deck. It’s simple, clean, and good for water runoff. A concrete slab works too. Foundation guidelines come with the kit.
How long does it take to put up?
As a rough average, the Tetra Hybrid shell goes up in about 2–3 days. It depends most on the dome size, plus your crew’s experience and the rental equipment used for the install. That doesn’t include the foundation or deck, electrical, plumbing or interior finishing. Every kit comes with an installation manual and assembly blueprints, plus support from our team.
