Projection Domes for Immersive Events
A projection dome turns the inside of a dome into a 360° screen, so your audience stands or sits inside the image. The Dome House sets up projection domes in 20, 30, 36, 42, 50, and 60 ft frames, with the projection system configured to your content, audience, and budget.

What it is
What Is a Projection Dome?
A projection dome is a dome whose interior is the screen. Projectors blend one image across the curved ceiling and walls, so the picture surrounds the audience instead of sitting in front of them. It's the idea behind a planetarium, used for events: brand experiences, launches, dining, exhibits, and education. Projector count, resolution, audio, and power are configured for your dome size, content, and venue when we quote the project.
How a projection dome comes together
01
The dome goes up: the same frames as our event domes, sized to the audience and the venue.
02
Projectors are placed and calibrated so their images blend into one picture across the curve of the dome.
03
Your content is formatted for the dome. Bring your own, or ask about adaptation through our production partners.
04
The show runs, with technical staffing available for the run of show.
Applications
What Projection Domes Are Used For
Wherever the setting should become part of the story, the dome itself becomes the display.
Brand activations and launches
A product reveal or brand story that surrounds the audience, inside a dome that draws a crowd from outside.
Corporate events and conferences
Keynotes, presentations, and hospitality with the whole interior as the screen.
Festivals and entertainment
Immersive shows and after-dark attractions that run session after session.
Immersive dining
Dinners and receptions where the room changes around the guests from course to course.
Museums, art, and exhibits
Full-dome digital art and cultural storytelling for a season's run or a standing installation.
Planetariums and education
Astronomy, science, and immersive learning for schools, campuses, and touring programs, usually starting in 20 and 30 ft domes.

Three tiers
Projection Configured to the Project
Three tiers, sized to the project rather than fixed packages. Projector count, resolution, audio, and power are configured for your dome size, content, and venue when we quote the project. Frames available in 20, 30, 36, 42, 50, and 60 ft. See projection dome rentals.
Standard
Budget-friendly 1080p or 2K projection for ambient visuals, presentations, and smaller domes.
Better
Brighter, blended coverage for larger audiences and richer immersive content.
Best
Top-tier 4K configurations with laser projector choices for flagship shows and installations.
Inside or outside
Inside the Dome, or On It
Projection works two ways with a dome, and many shows use both: projection dome rentals put the audience inside the image, and projection mapping shapes content to a surface you look at. Not sure which fits? Call (866) 767-3117.
Inside: a projection dome
The whole interior is the screen and the audience sits inside the image. That's what our projection dome rentals are.
Outside: projection mapping
Content shaped to the dome's exterior, or to a building facade or stage, turns the surface itself into a landmark for a night event.
Both, together
A mapped exterior draws the crowd and the immersive interior holds it. Both can be planned together in one proposal.

Projection Dome FAQs
What is a projection dome?
A projection dome is a dome whose interior is the screen. Projectors blend one image across the curved ceiling and walls, so the picture surrounds the audience instead of sitting in front of them. It's used for brand experiences, launches, dining, exhibits, education, and shows.
Can I rent a projection dome?
Yes. The Dome House rents projection domes in 20, 30, 36, 42, 50, and 60 ft frames, with the projection system configured to your content, audience, and venue. Installation, calibration, and show operation are scoped and quoted for your project.
What sizes do projection domes come in?
Our projection domes use the same frames as our event domes, in 20, 30, 36, 42, 50, and 60 ft. Ask about custom and larger sizes. Feasibility, availability, engineering, logistics, and lead time are confirmed for each project.
Is a projection dome the same as a planetarium?
A planetarium is one use of a projection dome. The same full-dome projection that shows the night sky can show art, brand stories, or immersive films. For education programs, smaller domes (20 and 30 ft are the usual starting points) run a straightforward projection setup.
Can I use my own video?
Bring your own content, or ask about adaptation through our production partners. Multiple video formats may be supported. Content adaptation and pre-show samples are available on request after project kickoff and the required deposit. Scope, fees, lead time, and playback responsibility are confirmed for each project.
Does a projection dome need darkness?
Projection looks best when the light is controlled: indoors, or outdoors after dark. We plan the setup around your venue and show times.
What's the difference between a projection dome and projection mapping?
In a projection dome the audience is inside the image, on the dome's interior. Projection mapping shapes content to a surface you look at, such as the outside of a dome, a building facade, or a stage.
How much does a projection dome cost?
Every projection dome is quoted per project. The dome size, the projection tier, your content, the venue and dates, and the installation and staffing you need set the scope. Tell us about the event and we'll send a clear proposal.
