Immersion means surrounding the audience with image, light, and sound. This guide compares the three main ways to build an immersive event space (LED rooms, projection-mapped rooms, and projection domes) and what each asks of your content and your site.
In short
An immersive event space surrounds its audience with moving image, light, and sound, so guests are inside the content instead of watching a screen. It can be a fixed immersive venue or a portable environment (an LED room, a projection-mapped room, or a projection dome) installed where the event happens.
On an RFP, immersive usually means three things: image on every side or overhead, controlled light, and sound that matches the picture. Decide early whether guests will sit for a show, walk through, or mingle, because each changes the room, the content, and the audio.
Fixed immersive venues in major cities come ready to run, with their own technical teams, and they’re the right choice when your event is in their city and fits their room. A portable environment goes to your site instead: a launch location, a festival, a campus, a museum lawn, or a city with no fixed venue.
Each can deliver an immersive show. The differences are brightness, how continuous the image is, how the space travels, and what content it needs.
Projection looks best in darkness, so projection-based spaces need blackout control. LED emits its own light and holds up better in brighter conditions. A projection dome with a blackout cover brings its own dark room to the site, even outdoors in daylight.
A dome’s curved surface uses fulldome content; flat rooms use content mapped to their walls. Existing video can often be adapted rather than recreated.
For our projection domes, multiple video formats may be supported. Content adaptation and pre-show samples are available on request after project kickoff and the required deposit. Scope, fees, lead time, and playback responsibility are confirmed for each project.
Immersive rooms need sound designed for the space, since curved and hard surfaces change how audio behaves. Plan seating (reclined, lounge, or standing) around sightlines. Presentations, camera feeds, and live performance are possible in many immersive spaces when the system and the content plan are built for them, so confirm inputs, formats, and who runs playback before the event.
Immersive events usually involve two roles: the structure and system supplier, and the creative or production team that makes the content and runs the show. Settle early who owns content, playback, operation, and support on the day.

The Dome House
A projection dome turns the interior of a dome into a 360° display. Systems are configured per project, from budget-friendly 1080p or 2K projection for ambient visuals and presentations to top-tier 4K configurations with laser projector choices for flagship shows. Projector count, resolution, audio, and power are configured for your dome size, content, and venue when we quote the project.
Projection domes use the same frame sizes as our event domes, and inflatable projection domes are also available for activations and immersive shows.

What is an immersive event space?

Is a projection dome the same as a planetarium?
They share the idea of a curved screen overhead and all around, but a planetarium is a permanent theater. A projection dome is a portable structure that brings the dome to your site, and it can host shows, presentations, dining, and brand experiences as well as fulldome films.
LED or projection: which is better?
It depends on light and shape. LED is bright and holds up in ambient light but comes in flat panels. Projection covers curved and irregular surfaces seamlessly but needs darkness, and a projection dome provides its own darkness with a blackout cover.
Can existing video be adapted for a dome?
