What is a glass geodesic dome?
It’s a dome-shaped structure made from precision-engineered aluminum struts and double-pane tempered glass panels. Ours are architectural-grade double-pane tempered glass panels. Think: strength, style, and sunlight—all in one.
Are glass domes stronger than plastic-covered ones?
Our kits use double-pane tempered glass on an aluminum frame, engineered for wind and snow loads with stamped engineering documentation available. Combined with our aluminum framing and steel connectors, you’re getting a structure designed for long-term use.
Do glass geodesic domes get too hot in the summer?
They can—but not if you build smart. Tinted or mirrored glass helps reflect heat, and our optional ventilation systems or HVAC integrations keep things cool. Many of our Dome House customers also add wrap-around curtains for shade. It’s glass done right, not a magnifying glass on your head.
Are glass domes good for cold climates?
Absolutely. The Dome House line offers uses double-pane glass which holds heat exceptionally well, and the dome shape naturally sheds snow. Add a wood stove or HVAC system and you’ll stay toasty—even in places like Colorado or Montana. Just warm, efficient shelter.

Do glass domes offer any privacy?
They absolutely can. We offer mirrored glass, custom tints, and wrap-around curtain systems to give you control over light and visibility. Some customers also incorporate aluminum panel sections for privacy on specific sides. You don’t have to give up seclusion for sunlight.
How hard is it to assemble a glass geodesic dome?
With a small crew or contractor, most builds go up in a few days. The frame is made from aluminum struts, and each glass panel is cut to fit like a glove. We provide instructions and engineering plans to guide you through it. No wild shapes, just clean triangles and solid structure.
What dome sizes are available?
