Why Glass Over Poly?

Most domes use polycarbonate sheets or cheap vinyl covers. They fade. They warp. They scratch. Glass? None of that nonsense.

No yellowing or fogging over time

Way better insulation — no sweating in the summer or freezing in the winter

Classy, not plasticky — this is the dome you brag about

And with mirror finishes or tints, you control the vibe—inside and out.

Engineered Glass That Performs

We’re not talking about your average windowpane. These are thick, double-paned tempered glass panels designed to insulate, deflect UV, and stand up to the elements. Whether you want clear visibility or a fully mirrored finish, we’ve got you covered—literally.

FAQ’s

What is the Tetra All Glass Dome?

The Tetra All Glass Dome is our fully transparent dome structure, made entirely from double-pane tempered glass panels mounted on a structural aluminum frame. It’s designed for those who want unobstructed views, natural light, and that high-end architectural aesthetic.

How is this different from your hybrid domes?

Unlike our Tetra Hybrid Domes, which include some solid aluminum insulated panel layouts combined with glass, the All Glass version uses 100% glass panels from base to crown. It’s made for locations and clients where the view matters more than privacy or maximum insulation (though you can have full privacy with mirror glass too).

Can I choose tinted or mirrored glass?

Yes. At The Dome House, we offer multiple glass tint options—including multiple shades of mirrored, bronze, dark, and of course, clear. Tinted or reflective glass adds daytime privacy and helps manage sunlight, glare, and heat.

Is the dome fully see-through at night?

If you’ve got lights on inside and no tint or curtains, yes—it’ll be visible. But we offer wrap-around curtain systems and privacy tint options so you can control visibility when the sun goes down. You get the openness and the option to shut it out when needed.

Are these domes weather-resistant?

Absolutely. The Tetra All Glass Dome is built with the same aluminum strut system and weather-sealed, tempered glass we use in our other models. It can handle snow, rain, heat, and high winds—with engineering available for permitting when needed.

What sizes are available?

Sizes range from 16’ up to our max 40’ diameter. Popular options for scenic retreats or sky-view stays are 20′, 24′, and 30’—depending on whether you’re building a personal retreat or a high-end short-term rental.

Is this dome insulated?

Glass naturally has less insulation than solid panels, but we use double-pane tempered glass to help regulate interior temperature. In colder climates, many customers add floor insulation, curtains, and heating systems to maintain comfort.

Can I use this dome for a short-term rental or eco-stay?

Yes. These domes are popular with eco resorts, Airbnb hosts, and luxury glamping operations looking to stand out with a high-end experience. Guests love the 360° views, the natural light, and the feeling of sleeping under the stars (without bugs or condensation).

Is there any way to control temperature inside?

Yes—especially if you plan for it. We offer options like ventilation windows, exhaust fan cutouts, and HVAC prep. Many customers also use mini split systems, solar-powered fans, or floor-mounted radiant heat to stay comfortable year-round.

What kind of foundation is required?

Most Tetra All Glass Dome buyers choose a pier foundation with a wood deck. It’s clean, slightly elevated, and ideal for resort or rental settings. A concrete slab is also an option depending on your site and permitting.

Can the glass be cleaned easily?

Yes. The dome’s slope helps rain rinse off most debris. For spot cleaning, a telescoping window washer or hiring a local glass crew a couple times a year keeps everything crystal clear. We use treated tempered glass to resist staining and reduce streaks.

How long does it take to assemble?

Most customers have the dome shell up in 3–5 days with a crew. Every piece is labeled and pre-cut for precision. The all-glass version might take a bit more care during install, but it follows the same assembly process as our other dome kits.

Can I add electricity or plumbing?

Definitely. Inside the dome, you can build out interior walls, flooring, and utilities just like a regular dwelling. Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are all common upgrades for clients using the dome as a rental or full-time home.

How long does the dome last?

With proper setup and basic maintenance, the Tetra All Glass Dome is built to last 30+ years. The aluminum frame won’t corrode, and the tempered glass is weather-rated for extreme conditions. This isn’t a tent—it’s a permanent architectural structure.

Do you provide engineering for permits?

Yes. We offer stamped engineering documents to help with building permits and zoning requirements. That includes structural, wind, and snow load details to help you get approved—especially useful in strict jurisdictions.
